The prompt for FWE for 12/28/2012, in the absence of our new mom Andrea, is disappointment. Be certain to include “FWE-Disappointment” in your title, tag with FWE, and post to Gather Writing Essential.
Years ago I went to Port Angeles, Washington to visit my sister, Jeannie, and to record a children's music album. My brother-in-law, Rick, was the engineer, and their children also performed on the album. Jeannie, a talented song writer and performer, harmonized with me too.
It was a great trip and one I'll never forget. I was keeping a journal that year and Jeannie saw it laying open and read what I had written the night before. It was about the dinner and how I was disappointed that the stuffed peppers didn't taste as good as I had expected. I didn't mean for her to read it but was negligent about leaving my journal out for her to see.
Although that disappointment wasn't a big deal to me, Jeannie has never let me forget it and has made mention of disappointing peppers (to get a well deserved belly laugh from me) ever since that day. Some years later Jeannie gave us a small little bell pepper plant to put in our vegetable garden. She put the words "disappointing pepper" on the card that accompanied the gift.
Sam put in in the ground and it was hesitant to thrive for quite a few weeks. I was thinking that I might, indeed, be disappointed...again. Summer really warmed up in August and the pepper put forth a small green offering...then another one came.
As the days went by, the plant suddenly grew taller and wider. It delivered more peppers than I've ever seen on a pepper plant. I sent Jeannie these pictures with an email of sincere gratitude.
As you can see for yourself, this was the opposite of a disappointing pepper plant!
And one more thing you must know - my sister, Jeannie, is a great cook!

Good response and nice photos, Jan.
As you have found out by now, there are many glitches in the WE group. We just learn to adapt to them. :) I really am glad you are here and you are doing a great job as editor.
I want to grow some of the mini-bells in different colors...
Our tiny red-hot Hawaiian chile peppers are hot enough for me...I don't need anything hotter LOL
Have fun and I hope you share some of your Mexico adventures with us!

Thanks for posting to the Pepper Wall on The Triple Name Club where it's now featured.

My favorite line is "There's only two things that money can't buy and that's true love and homegrown tomatoes!"
Those homegrown tomatoes
Like a tasty explosion
Like a bittersweet kiss
Like warm sunshine in winter
Like a visit to childhood
Like the grin of a goddess
They complement cheese
Note to self: There need not be breathlessness, over exertion, body heat, prescient whispering or intense rapturous bonding to create a feeling of peace and appreciation as we read. You prove that here. After all, eating is the second-most source of enjoyment in living... :)
Thank you for posting to Gather's Luminous Writers and Artists. Now Featured.
