our food is all garbage......

we try to get only organic, but is is not easy to find, and is very expensive.....

Rayda we must take a small patch of land in our backyards and try to raise our own crops. Or go into aquaponics and raise fish and grow vegetables.

LOL...I have tried growing my own veggies, believe me. My daughter did manage to harvest a few radishes this year but my poor rhubarb never did survive the attack of the bugs and my strawberries failed to come in. I think I just have a brown thumb!

Many countries around the world are either banning GMO's or forcing them to be labeled. It's sickening that the U.S. allows them to be grown almost everywhere and to be almost completely contaminating our food supply.

Denise they are using us for guinea pigs. They are getting statistics from the doctors and hospitals. be careful what you tell the doctor.

There is no doubt that wild game and fish are better for us..It's sad that most of us can't raise our own food the way we used to but after we get older and more disabled we have a fixed income that's barely covers what we just have to have. I know I have to eat what I can afford.

You are right, Betty. You can raise a few chickens but the good food for them is expensive. There is still things that you can grow like beans in your flower garden. fresh lettuce a few tomato plants, etc.

Anyone that can, wisely consumes only what they themselves grow, hunt, catch and produce. It is a hard and difficult livelihood, however it does produce its own natural wisdom necessary for dealing with nature.

Yes it does. I know how to grow and raise animals but getting the proper feed is hard to do in today's world. I am looking into aquaponics. Do you know anything about them?? Thank you for your comment.

Aquaponics is not my field Jean R B. and I use only heirloom seeds for what I grow up to and including corn in the growing season.

lately i dont eat much...but if i cant get it fresh then i try to get the frozen...as of meat i am not much of a meat eater as the rest of the family is...

Yes, the socialist countries do a much better job of protecting their people from the excesses of corporations. It isn't just GMOs in corn harming us but also the growth hormones given to our beef, pork, chickens, farm raised fish and so on. I've been reading where only the rice grown is California is safe to eat and that we need to avoid all farm raised seafood. I've also read where companies are disposing of coal ash which contains various heavy metals by putting it in fertilizers and cosmetics and congress has exempted it from having to be on the labels.

I read about coal ash in fertilizer. It is easy to make your own compost pile. Thank you for your comment.

I do use compost. I would still like to see the FDA restored to it's former position as protector of American citizens. It used to insure that our foods and medications were safe to be part of our bodies. Now its little more than a rubber stamp for corporations which could care less about us as long as they can make a profit.

It is sad for folks that are not able to grow their own. corn will absolutely kill you. Most Slaughter animals are fattened with CORN. Even some of the fish are corn fed. I agree with you. clean out your pantries. Avoid processed foods and corn fed meats and corn products. Get as close to natural foods as possible. Then be careful!

Beans, squash, peppers, tomatoes, peas, and yes, they are organic. I also have a wild strawberry patch, several mullberry trees, and some other wild edible plants. I did corn last year, but with the drought, it didn't do well.

I hate franken foods.

There are a lot of them in the grocery stores. Be careful what you buy.

yep.. we've screwd ourselves big time. I read somewhere one of the big companies owns the original non-gmo corn seeds and no one can commercially use them. scary. the ground and air and water is polluted with everything... so I feel like nothing is really going to make a difference now.

Very excellent post! I've been doing lots and lots of research for quite some time on GM processed foods.....they are ever so bad for our bodies........our family has really changed our way of eating.....I continue to read, read, and read more about GM/processed foods and all that is bad for our bodies........this, I truly feel, is why there is so much cancer!
We are so thankful that we've gotten organic markets here in our city.......we have, and shop at, Whole Foods (my very favorite), Trader Joe's, and Gateway Market (it's locally owned).......we've made major changes in our eating habits........I ONLY buy meats/chicken/milk and eggs at organic markets........and try to shop there as much as possible........organic markets are not ALWAYS more expensive than regular grocery stores, as so many people believe. One needs to know their prices! I now even buy organic cleaners for our house, organic body washes/scrubs, etc........
People need to read, read, read.......educate yourselves and protect your lives!

You know, it really amazes me.....I hear people complain all the time how much more expensive organic foods are......NO, that is not necessarily so........I've been in both organic and "regular" grocery stores........beef has gone sky high in the regular stores.....I've found it to be higher in the regular stores than in organic ones!!!! A person just has to know one's prices.
Also, I figure this.....perhaps it's worth paying more for organic foods, in the fact that they are ever sooooo much better for one's body........so much of the GM crap.......well, there are all sorts of things that can cause major diseases, such as cancer, etc.........I've even started buying organic skin/bath products, etc.....so much better....
At Whole Foods, they do have little booklets and even videos showing/telling people how the animals are raised and all the "extras" taken to make organic products so much better.
Even though Whole Foods is quite a ways from our house, we've started shopping there on Sundays after church. Last Sunday, I found a bottle of liquid soap that can be used for EVERYTHING....cleaning, laundry, hair shampoo, body gel, etc.......one of the employees told me about it......it's just amazing! We find all sorts of neat surprises there!
